Tom Brady tried to make one topic off limits at his roast

Tom Brady seemed to take issue with one joke that was told during his roast on Sunday night, but viewers could not tell if the legendary quarterback was serious or going along with some sort of bit. It sounds like it may have been the former.

Andrew Schultz spoke about the Brady roast during the latest episode of the comedian’s “Flagrant” show, which was released on Wednesday.

Schultz, who was one of the roasters for the Netflix special, was asked about the moment early on when Jeff Ross made a joke about Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Brady walked up to the stage to tell Ross “don’t say that s— again.” You can see the exchange here.

The joke, which referenced Kraft being arrested as part of a sting at a massage parlor in 2019, was tame compared to a lot of what was said during the roast. That is why many thought the Brady-Ross interaction was staged. Schultz believes it was genuine.

“I think that was 100 percent real. The reason why I think it’s real is because they told us no jokes about happy endings with Bob Kraft,” Schultz said.

Schultz explained that he had written a joke about Kraft also but was told it was an off-limits topic.

Brady has long held allegiance to Kraft and has said the 82-year-old is like a second father to him. It would make sense if Brady did not want Kraft to become collateral damage during the roast. Brady’s ex-wife probably wishes the same rules were put into effect for her.
