Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson is on track to be on the field for the regular season opener, despite undergoing offseason shoulder surgery.

The 26-year-old participated in 7-on-7s on Thursday for the first time during training camp.

"It was good. It was just good to be back out there doing something," Wilson said after practice. "At least I've been doing individual, but it's just not quite the same when you actually get to do some team type stuff."

Wilson had a breakout 2020 season, finishing with 100 tackles, four interceptions and four passes defensed in 13 games.

He's on track to return in time for the opener and says practice reps in 11-on-11 sessions are crucial and that he could start the season, without playing in the preseason.

"I'd be comfortable as long as I'm getting my practice reps in," Wilson said. "My goal is to get healthy. I want to be physically ready for Week 1 as best I can. Whatever the training staff, coaching staff thinks I need to do it is what I'll do."
